Raphael Nyange

Raphael lives in the village of Luangwa, which means “fishing basket,” a reference to the great number of fish that live in the river that borders the village. Luangwa is known throughout Zambia and all of Southern Africa for its beautiful baskets, the reeds of which grow high and strong on the banks of the river. Born in the village in the same hut that he now shares with his family, Raphael hopes that by sharing his baskets with you, he will be able to build a home with a permanent roof that can keep his children warm and dry in the rainy season.
